A riotous and kaleidoscopic tour through the story of Lizzie Borden, who “took an axe” and was acquitted of the hatchet murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1892. This darkly absurd comedy about what happened that day Lizzie did or didn’t murder her parents is a story about broken Hollywood dreams, unrequited love, self-loathing, generosity, vanity and the mean things that stepmoms say.
