On a stormy night on a Caribbean island, villagers tell the story of Ti Moune to a frightened young girl. In the tale, Ti Moune is a peasant orphan girl saved from a deadly storm by the gods. She falls in love with Daniel Beauxhomme, a young, upper-class grande homme who returns her affection, but struggles with their difference in class. The legendary story tests whether love or death is stronger and conveys themes of love, acceptance, and unity.
